Information

This very rare table lamp, model 9224, was designed by Paavo Tynell and produced by Taito Oy in Finland during the 1950s. The lamp combines brass and leather materials, featuring a distinctive horseshoe-shaped base that provides both stability and an elegant visual appeal. The vertical brass arm is wrapped in tightly coiled leather, creating a tactile contrast and adding a refined decorative detail. The conical shade is punctuated by a perforated rim and smaller perforations across its surface, allowing light to escape in a delicate, decorative pattern.

The brass surfaces have developed a natural patina with signs of oxidation and wear consistent with the lamp’s age. The shade is adjustable and mounted on a pivoting joint, enabling directional lighting. The base retains original markings identifying it as a genuine Taito Oy production.
