Stool

This rare stool, model Palle, was produced by K. J. Pettersson & Söner in Sweden during the 1970s and is a strong example of Scandinavian solid-wood craftsmanship from the period. Its compact yet sculptural form reflects the era’s interest in robust construction, tactile materials, and understated functionality, while the softly contoured seat adds a subtle ergonomic quality to the otherwise architectural design.

The stool is made entirely of solid wood with a warm, rich tone and clearly visible grain patterns throughout. The construction emphasizes mass and stability, with thick block-like sides and a recessed base that creates a strong visual presence despite its modest size. The gently shaped seat surface introduces a flowing contrast to the rectilinear body, highlighting the careful balance between form and comfort.

This piece is presented in good vintage condition, showing signs of use and age consistent with its history. Minor surface wear, small marks, and natural patina contribute to its character and authenticity without detracting from its overall appearance or function. These traces of use underscore the stool’s solid construction and long-standing durability.

The stool measures 60 cm in width, 37.5 cm in depth, and 36 cm in height, with a seat height of approximately 30 cm. It is photographed together with item no. 135161 for reference. Its proportions make it suitable as a low stool, footrest, or sculptural accent piece within both modern and period interiors, where its material presence and distinctive form can be fully appreciated.
