Table lamps

A rare pair of table lamps produced by Asea in Sweden during the 1950s, combining refined mid-century modern design with a light, decorative expression. The lamps feature a distinctive base in brass, formed from slender rods that taper outward and meet in softly curved feet, creating a stable yet visually airy structure. The brass has developed a warm, slightly muted patina with minor surface wear, consistent with age and use.

The lamp bodies are compact and well-proportioned, supporting newly mounted conical shades in a floral textile. The fabric displays a delicate botanical motif in soft tones of yellow, red, blue, and brown set against an off-white ground. The organic pattern introduces a gentle contrast to the geometric clarity of the base, adding a decorative and somewhat whimsical quality. When illuminated, the shades diffuse the light warmly, enhancing the texture of the fabric and creating a soft ambient glow.

The fittings are executed in brass with visible maker’s markings from Asea, underscoring the lamps’ authenticity and origin. Each lamp retains its original structure and character, with updated wiring and switches integrated discreetly along the white cords.

Each lamp measures approximately 45 cm (17.7 inches) in height and 26 cm (10.2 inches) in diameter. The pair remains in good vintage condition with light signs of wear, including minor marks to the brass and gentle aging to the materials, all of which contribute to their overall character and period appeal.
