Thelma Zoega candlesticks
Rare set of three candlesticks executed in brass designed by Thelma Zoega and produced in Sweden during the 1970s. The design reflects a sculptural and architectural approach typical of the period, where simple geometric forms are combined into balanced, vertical compositions.
Each candlestick is constructed from cylindrical brass elements arranged in a stacked formation, with a wider base cylinder supporting a narrower stem and an upper candle holder. The proportions vary between the three pieces, creating a graduated set with heights of 10, 14, and 18 cm, allowing for a dynamic grouping when displayed together. The repetition of pure cylindrical forms gives the design a strong visual rhythm while maintaining a restrained, modernist expression.
The brass surface has developed a pronounced and varied patina over time, with areas of oxidation, discoloration, and tonal shifts ranging from warm golden hues to darker, almost bronze-like patches. This natural aging enhances the character of the pieces and emphasizes the materiality, giving each candlestick a unique surface texture.
Dimensions: diameter 4 cm (1.6 inches), heights 10 cm (3.9 inches), 14 cm (5.5 inches), and 18 cm (7.1 inches).
In vintage condition with visible signs of use and a heavy, uneven patina consistent with age.
