Information

This rare ceiling lamp was designed by Uno & Östen Kristiansson and produced by Luxus in Vittsjö, Sweden, during the 1960s. The lamp features three opaline glass shades, each with a softly organic, asymmetrical shape, suspended from a gently curved solid oak beam. This design balances modernist simplicity with the warmth of natural materials, embodying the characteristic aesthetics of Scandinavian mid-century design.

The opaline glass shades diffuse light evenly, creating a soft, ambient glow ideal for various interior settings. The oak beam tapers elegantly at the ends, providing both structural support and a natural counterbalance to the suspended glass. Small oak caps at the top of each shade visually link the elements, reinforcing the harmonious integration of materials.

Uno & Östen Kristiansson, founders of Luxus, were renowned Swedish designers known for their refined and minimalist approach to lighting and furniture. Their work emphasized functionality, craftsmanship, and the use of high-quality materials such as wood, glass, and acrylic, making them key figures in Scandinavian modernism.

Luxus, based in Vittsjö, earned international acclaim for its timeless lighting designs, often characterized by the use of opaline glass and natural wood. The company’s pieces frequently feature organic forms that reflect the soft, understated modernism of the period.

The lamp measures 65 cm in width, 16 cm in depth, and 140 cm in height (25.6 x 6.3 x 55.1 inches), offering a balanced and elegant design suitable for a range of interior styles.
