Easy chairs
Pair of Swedish Modern easy chairs produced in Sweden during the mid-20th century. These chairs exemplify the organic softness and craftsmanship typical of Scandinavian upholstered furniture from the 1940s and 1950s.
The chairs are constructed with solid beech legs supporting fully upholstered bodies in a beige plush fabric with a subtle black dotted pattern. The upholstery features a scalloped, channel-tufted backrest forming a shell-like shape that envelops the sitter, giving the design both structural rhythm and visual balance. The curved armrests and deep seat provide comfort while maintaining an elegant profile. The legs are slightly tapered, displaying the warm tone and grain of the beech wood, which contrasts harmoniously with the soft texture of the fabric.
This design reflects the Swedish Modern approach that sought to merge functional form with organic comfort, often drawing inspiration from nature. The craftsmanship and proportions suggest the influence of notable Swedish furniture makers of the period who emphasized quality upholstery work and timeless silhouettes.
Both chairs remain in good vintage condition with small signs of use consistent with age, including minor wear to the fabric and patina on the wooden legs. The structure is stable, and the upholstery retains its shape and resilience.
