Percival Lafer easy chair
This easy chair was designed by Percival Lafer and produced by Lafer MP in Brazil during the 1960s. It is executed in solid hardwood combined with original brown leather upholstery, characteristic of Lafer’s innovative Brazilian modern aesthetic.
The chair features a robust hardwood frame with exposed joinery and structural detailing, supporting generously padded leather cushions. The cushions are deep and tufted, designed to envelop the sitter, and secured to the frame with leather straps and fittings at the back, a distinctive element in Lafer’s work. The headrest extends the backrest profile, providing added comfort while maintaining the bold sculptural appearance.
The leather is in excellent vintage condition with only minor signs of use, showing a warm, natural patina consistent with age. The craftsmanship highlights both durability and comfort, reflecting Lafer’s philosophy of uniting modernist form with functional innovation.
