Hans-Agne Jakobsson table lamp
This table lamp, model B-124, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s. It features a distinctive flared glass shade in a deep purple hue with a glossy finish that, when illuminated, diffuses light softly into an opaque white glow. A brass ventilated ring separates the shade from the base, serving both functional purposes for airflow and adding a decorative accent.
The base is also made of glass and presents a sculptural, tiered form that echoes the shape of the shade. The combination of brass and glass is typical of Jakobsson’s approach to lighting, emphasizing warm, atmospheric illumination through carefully chosen materials.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a renowned Swedish lighting designer recognized for his innovative use of glass and metal to achieve diffused, inviting light. His work was influential in Scandinavian modernist interiors, balancing aesthetic beauty with high-quality lighting performance.
The lamp is in very good vintage condition, with the glass shade well preserved and the brass components showing a natural patina consistent with age.
The lamp measures 21 cm in diameter and 35.5 cm in height (8.3 x 14 inches).
