Hans-Agne Jakobsson table lamps
This rare pair of table lamps, model B-221, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, in 1964. Crafted entirely from brass, each lamp features a cylindrical base adorned with engraved decorative patterns and a domed shade punctuated by small circular perforations. These perforations allow light to gently filter through, producing a soft ambient glow and a distinctive star-like effect when illuminated.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson was a prominent Swedish designer celebrated for his expertise in creating atmospheric lighting. His work often focused on diffused and indirect illumination, utilizing perforated elements, layered shades, and premium materials to achieve warm and inviting lighting effects. Jakobsson’s company became a leading force in Scandinavian modern lighting, noted for its craftsmanship and innovative design solutions.
These lamps exemplify the Scandinavian mid-century modern ethos, striking a balance between functionality and decorative elegance. The brass surfaces provide a warm, reflective quality that enhances light distribution and complements a variety of interior settings. Their compact dimensions make them ideal for use on bedside tables, sideboards, or as accent lighting.
Both lamps are preserved in vintage condition, showing natural patina and wear consistent with their age. The dimensions are 11 cm in diameter and 17 cm in height (4.3 x 6.7 inches).
