Hans-Agne Jakobsson wall lamps
This is a rare set of wall lamps, model V-305/2, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, in the 1950s. Each lamp features a pair of spherical clear glass shades mounted on cylindrical brass holders, which are attached to a horizontal brass arm extending from a circular wall plate. The design creates a balanced, symmetrical composition, and the transparent glass globes allow for a soft and atmospheric distribution of light, a signature of Jakobsson’s lighting philosophy.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was one of Sweden’s most influential lighting designers, renowned for his skill in creating warm, glare-free illumination. Founding his company in Markaryd in 1951, Jakobsson produced a wide range of lighting designs that are now considered icons of Scandinavian modernism. His use of simple geometric forms combined with high-quality materials resulted in fixtures that are both functional and sculptural.
The V-305/2 model represents Jakobsson’s focus on dual-light wall fixtures, offering both practical task lighting and a decorative presence. The polished brass construction provides a reflective quality that enhances the glow of the light, while the clear glass globes add visual lightness and transparency, making these lamps suitable for hallways, bedrooms, or living areas.
The set is in good vintage condition with minor signs of use and age-appropriate patina on the brass, which adds character and authenticity. The original glass shades are intact, with minimal wear consistent with their age.
