Hans Bergström floor lamp
This very rare height-adjustable floor lamp was designed by Hans Bergström in the 1950s and produced by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden. It exemplifies Scandinavian mid-century lighting with a blend of functional adjustability and sculptural, organic form.
The lamp features a slender black lacquered metal frame with a tripod base that ensures stability without visual heaviness. The height adjustment mechanism is elegantly integrated into the vertical support. Brass details provide a warm contrast to the industrial frame.
The original off-white fabric shade has been newly reupholstered, tensioned over a wire frame into a soft, voluminous, and asymmetrical shape that diffuses light warmly and enhances the lamp’s directional quality—ideal for reading or ambient lighting.
Hans Bergström, founder and chief designer at Ateljé Lyktan, was influential in defining Swedish modernist lighting design, combining traditional craftsmanship with modern materials. The lamp remains in excellent vintage condition, with minor frame wear and a professionally restored shade.
