Paavo Tynell ceiling lamp
This ceiling lamp, model A1965, was designed by Paavo Tynell and produced by Taito Oy in Finland during the 1950s. It is an early example of Tynell’s signature approach to lighting, blending functionalist principles with exquisite craftsmanship and decorative detailing.
The lamp is crafted from brass and features a broad, flared shade with softly curved contours. Over time, the exterior brass surface has developed a natural patina, enhancing the lamp’s vintage authenticity and character. A perforated star-like pattern adorns the shade, creating a subtle, decorative light effect when the lamp is illuminated. The interior of the shade is finished in white, designed to maximize light reflection. A brass counterweight mechanism allows the height to be adjusted smoothly, combining practicality with the lamp’s sculptural elegance.
