Hans-Agne Jakobsson ceiling lamp
Ceiling lamp model T-602, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1950s. This model is one of Jakobsson’s most distinctive designs, combining the decorative softness of textile with the structural refinement of brass.
The lamp features a tiered composition of cascading silk fringes, suspended from a circular brass frame. The layered construction diffuses the light through the fringes, creating a warm, glowing effect and a characteristic play of light and shadow. The brass top section and canopy provide contrast to the organic texture of the textile, emphasizing Jakobsson’s interest in blending material tactility with functional lighting design.
Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was known for his mastery in achieving atmospheric and diffused illumination. His designs frequently employed materials such as glass, metal, and fabric to shape the quality of light rather than conceal it, reflecting the Scandinavian approach to comfort and ambience.
This example remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of use and age. The silk fringes retain their original tone and density, and the brass parts show a natural, even patina.
