Hans-Agne Jakobsson table lamps

The pair of table lamps, model B-132, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1950s. Each lamp features a cylindrical brass base with a gently flared bottom, supporting a large dome-shaped pleated fabric shade. The brass has aged to develop a natural patina, which enhances the surface texture and contributes to the lamps’ vintage character.

The original pleated fabric shades retain their structured dome shape, diffusing light softly to create a warm and inviting glow. An internal light diffuser, visible in detail, ensures even illumination while minimizing glare—an innovative aspect characteristic of Jakobsson’s lighting designs.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a Swedish designer and lighting manufacturer celebrated for his pioneering approach to light diffusion. His work, deeply rooted in Scandinavian modernism, emphasized atmospheric lighting and the interaction between materials and light. His signature use of brass combined with pleated fabric shades became synonymous with warm, soft lighting that enhances interior ambiance.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, based in Markaryd, Sweden, specialized in producing high-quality lighting fixtures throughout the mid-20th century.
