Information

This rare pair of table lamps, model B-195, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1960s. Crafted entirely from brass, these lamps embody a minimalist, industrial aesthetic that prioritizes functionality and precise light control.

Each lamp features a cylindrical brass shade with a perforated top, designed to direct light effectively. The shade is adjustable, allowing the user to modify the angle of illumination as needed. The lamps rest on slender brass stems connected to flat circular bases, offering stability while maintaining a lightweight and elegant profile. Over time, the polished brass has developed a natural patina that adds depth and character to the surfaces.

Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was a prominent Swedish lighting designer celebrated for his innovative use of materials and shade constructions to manipulate light. While known for his designs that create warm, diffused atmospheres, Jakobsson also developed task lighting such as the B-195 model, which delivers focused illumination. His company, Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB, was a leading Swedish lighting manufacturer during the mid-century period, producing high-quality, functional, and aesthetically refined lighting fixtures.

These lamps exemplify mid-century Scandinavian design values, combining meticulous craftsmanship with a balance of form and function. Their brass construction and adjustable shades make them particularly suitable for reading or accent lighting.

Both lamps remain in good vintage condition, showing signs of patina and wear consistent with their age. Each lamp measures 10 cm in width, 26 cm in depth, and 56 cm in height (3.9 x 10.2 x 22 inches), making them practical and elegant lighting solutions.
