Hans-Agne Jakobsson wall lamps

This pair of wall lamps, model V-118, was designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his company Hans-Agne Jakobsson AB in Markaryd, Sweden, during the 1950s. The lamps are constructed from solid brass with cylindrical shades and frosted glass diffusers that provide soft, evenly distributed light. Their simple geometric form — a cylindrical brass shade projecting from a circular wall mount — reflects Jakobsson’s commitment to functional yet atmospheric lighting solutions.

The brass surfaces display a warm, aged patina, with light scratches and minor marks consistent with age and use. The frosted glass diffusers remain in good condition, with no significant chips or cracks, allowing the lamps to produce a diffused glow typical of Jakobsson’s designs. Hans-Agne Jakobsson (1919–2009) was one of Sweden’s most celebrated lighting designers, known for his ability to create lighting that softened and enhanced interiors. Founding his own company in Markaryd in 1951, Jakobsson produced a wide range of lamps and lighting fixtures that became synonymous with Scandinavian modern lighting design. His use of materials such as brass, glass, and wood, paired with carefully considered proportions, gave his work both a functional and atmospheric quality.
