Hans-Agne Jakobsson wall lamps
This wall-mounted lamp is model V-220, designed by Hans-Agne Jakobsson and produced by his own workshop in Markaryd, Sweden during the 1950s. The model belongs to Jakobsson’s early production, where brass construction and softly diffused light were central elements, anticipating his later, more widely known lighting designs.
The lamp consists of a cylindrical brass wall mount and arm supporting a compact brass lamp body. The shade is executed in lightly tinted glass with an organic, rounded profile that softens the emitted light. The brass surfaces show a warm golden tone with visible patina, while the glass displays a subtle amber hue that enhances the atmospheric quality when illuminated. Decorative perforations around the brass housing contribute both to ventilation and visual rhythm.
In terms of construction, the lamp combines solid brass components with carefully fitted glass, reflecting Jakobsson’s emphasis on craftsmanship and material integrity. The proportions are compact and well balanced, making the model suitable for use as accent lighting in corridors, bedrooms, or reading areas. The light output is subdued and directional, characteristic of Scandinavian mid-century lighting focused on comfort rather than glare.
The lamp is in good vintage condition, with signs of age-related wear and patina consistent with use. These include surface marks and tonal variations in the brass, which are typical for original examples from this period and do not affect functionality.
Dimensions are approximately 11.5 cm wide, 17.5 cm deep, and 24 cm high, corresponding to about 4.5 x 6.9 x 9.4 inches.
