Information

This rare bedside or side table, model 384, was designed by Danish designer Kai Kristiansen and produced by Aksel Kjersgaard in Denmark during the 1950s. It exemplifies the restrained elegance and functional clarity of mid-century Scandinavian design, characterized by its refined proportions, clean lines, and dedication to craftsmanship.

Crafted from solid teak, the piece features a warm, reddish-brown tone with a rich, natural grain that enhances its understated yet sophisticated presence. The minimalist silhouette is complemented by precise joinery and subtle detailing, such as the circular recessed drawer pull that merges seamlessly with the horizontal grain pattern, emphasizing the table’s geometric simplicity. Its slightly tapered legs contribute to a light and balanced appearance, while the elevated structure ensures both visual and functional lightness in any interior.

The table is a testament to Kristiansen’s design philosophy, which prioritized practical utility combined with sculptural elegance. Aksel Kjersgaard, known for his high-quality cabinetmaking and collaborations with leading Danish designers, produced many of the era’s most refined wooden furniture pieces, and this model is a notable example of their shared commitment to timeless modernism.

This piece is in excellent vintage condition with minor signs of use, displaying a beautifully preserved patina that highlights its authenticity and age.

Dimensions are 60 cm wide, 35.5 cm deep, and 52 cm high (23.6 x 14 x 20.5 in)
