Lisa Johansson-Pape ceiling lamps
This very rare ceiling lamp, model 61-347, was designed by Finnish lighting designer Lisa Johansson-Pape and produced by Orno in Finland during the 1950s. The lamp combines opaline glass, lacquered metal, and brass, highlighting Johansson-Pape’s emphasis on material harmony and softly diffused light.
The design embodies a restrained mid-century Scandinavian aesthetic, featuring clean geometric lines and a focus on light quality. The opaline glass diffuser emits a gentle, ambient glow, while the lacquered metal shade directs and softens the light output. The long brass rod suspension accentuates the lamp’s verticality, making it especially suitable for spaces with generous ceiling height.
Lisa Johansson-Pape (1907–1989) was a seminal figure in Finnish lighting design and a longtime collaborator with Orno, Finland’s leading lighting manufacturer in the mid-20th century. Her work is distinguished by an intuitive sense of proportion, technical sophistication, and a keen interest in the interaction between light and environment. Johansson-Pape represented Finland at numerous international design exhibitions and played a pivotal role in defining the nation’s modern lighting design identity.
The lamp is in excellent vintage condition, exhibiting light patina on the brass and minimal wear on the lacquered surfaces. All materials and components are original, including the hand-blown glass diffuser and metal fittings.
The dimensions are 42 cm in diameter and 120 cm in height, approximately 16.5 inches wide and 47.2 inches tall.
