Nils Öfverman cabinet
Rare cabinet designed by Nils Öfverman and produced by master cabinetmaker L. Löfberg in Stockholm, Sweden, during the 1930s. This piece exemplifies the refined elegance of the Swedish Grace period, combining classical inspiration with Art Deco geometry and exceptional craftsmanship.
The cabinet is executed in polished birch and rosewood with intricate inlays and veneers in contrasting woods. The fall-front reveals a richly detailed interior with multiple drawers and compartments framed by columns, showcasing the artisan’s precision and sense of proportion. The front panel features an elaborate marquetry motif of a stylized urn with floral decoration, made from various exotic veneers including elm burl and rosewood.
The structure stands on four fluted legs joined by a concave stretcher, all in dark-stained wood, providing visual stability and architectural harmony. The cabinet’s balanced composition and decorative restraint reflect the transitional aesthetics between neoclassicism and modernism that characterized Swedish furniture of this era.
Marked by L. Löfberg, Snickaremästare, Bryggaregatan 30, Stockholm. The piece remains in good vintage condition with minor signs of wear and age-related patina.
