Wall lamps
This rare set of wall lamps, probably produced in Sweden in the 1950s, is made entirely of brass and represents the understated elegance of early Scandinavian modern lighting. Each lamp features a cylindrical form with a stepped design, consisting of two concentric tubes, one slightly elevated above the other. This construction creates a subtle play of light and shadow, as well as a directional beam that can be aimed, thanks to the adjustable joint connecting the lamp to the wall bracket.
The brass surfaces show a warm, natural patina that has developed over time, contributing to the lamps’ vintage character. Traces of use are present but consistent with age, enhancing rather than detracting from their visual appeal. The design is functional and minimal, aligning with mid-century Scandinavian principles where material honesty and clean geometry were emphasized.
Although the designer and manufacturer are not definitively attributed, the lamps are stylistically consistent with Swedish lighting design from the 1950s, when brass was a favored material for both domestic and public interiors. This period saw a transition from ornate pre-war styles to modern, pared-down silhouettes, and these lamps capture that spirit of refinement and simplicity.
Their relatively compact dimensions make them versatile for various settings, suitable as reading lights, accent lighting, or atmospheric wall illumination. Dimensions are 10.5 cm wide, 18 cm deep, and 20 cm high, corresponding to approximately 4.1 x 7.1 x 7.9 inches.
