Tage Pind wall lamp
A very rare wall lamp designed by Tage Pind and produced in Denmark in 1955. Originally commissioned for the Astoria Cinema in Aalborg, the lamp represents a highly sculptural and atmospheric example of Danish mid-century lighting design, combining organic movement with elegant materiality.
The composition is built around a slender vertically flowing brass structure with softly curved arms supporting three opaline glass globes. Each globe is partially enclosed within a wave-shaped brass cup, creating a striking asymmetrical silhouette that gives the piece an almost floral or celestial appearance. The dynamic lines and balanced proportions demonstrate the expressive modernism emerging in Scandinavian design during the 1950s.
Executed in patinated brass and white opaline glass, the lamp possesses a warm and refined character both illuminated and unlit. The aged brass surfaces have developed a rich natural patina over time, adding depth and texture to the sculptural form. When lit, the opaline globes emit a soft diffused glow that creates an intimate and atmospheric light quality reminiscent of classic cinema interiors and sophisticated hospitality spaces of the period.
The lamp remains in good vintage condition with signs of age, usage and patina consistent with time. A highly unusual and decorative piece with documented provenance from the Astoria Cinema in Aalborg.
