Erik Buck dining chairs

This is a rare set of six dining chairs designed by Erik Buck and produced by Vamo Møbelfabrik in Denmark in 1957. The design is a notable example of mid-century Scandinavian craftsmanship, with a refined construction that emphasizes comfort, natural materials, and minimalist aesthetics. The chairs are constructed in a combination of teak and oak, with the sculptural frame formed primarily in solid teak. The back legs are gently tapered and rise to support a curved, molded teak backrest. This element is slightly concave and organically shaped, offering ergonomic lumbar support and a distinctive visual softness.

The frame joints are carefully fitted and exhibit the high level of woodworking associated with Danish cabinetmaking of the period. The seat has been newly reupholstered in high-quality Kvadrat™ upholstery fabric in a warm mustard yellow tone. The upholstery is crisply executed, following the slight curvature of the seat structure, which is supported by a solid oak subframe. The combination of materials adds both tactile variation and structural resilience, while the color contrast between the dark teak and the bright textile provides a vibrant, contemporary balance.

Erik Buck (1923–1982) was a Danish designer known for his elegant, functional furniture with subtle sculptural elements. His work often integrated soft organic lines with structural clarity. He collaborated with several manufacturers, but his most iconic chair designs were produced by Vamo Møbelfabrik, which specialized in high-quality Danish modern furniture during the 1950s and 60s.

This set is in excellent vintage condition, with frames that show minimal wear and newly restored seat upholstery. The wood surfaces have been carefully maintained and retain their original finish and warm patina.

Each chair measures 49 cm in width, 49 cm in depth, and 77 cm in height, with a seat height of 45 cm. These dimensions correspond to approximately 19.3 inches wide, 19.3 inches deep, 30.3 inches high, and a seat height of 17.7 inches.
