Erik Buck dining chairs
This rare set of six dining chairs, model OD-49, was designed by Erik Buck and produced by Oddense Maskinsnedkeri A/S (O.D. Møbler) in Denmark during the 1960s. The design exemplifies the organic refinement and craftsmanship characteristic of Danish modern furniture from this era.
Each chair is crafted from solid rosewood, displaying a deep, lustrous grain with warm reddish-brown undertones. The frame features elegantly sculpted lines, with gently curved back legs that transition seamlessly into the backrest supports. The construction is precise and well-balanced, emphasizing Buck’s skill in combining strength and visual lightness.
The seat and backrest are upholstered in the original blue fabric, which contrasts beautifully with the rich rosewood frame. The upholstery retains its mid-century character, showing signs of wear and subtle stains consistent with age and use. The ergonomically shaped seat and slightly angled backrest provide comfort while maintaining a clean, minimal silhouette.
This model highlights Buck’s focus on functional elegance, where form and craftsmanship meet in a timeless and practical expression of Scandinavian design. The set bears the Danish Furnituremakers Control and Domus Danica labels, ensuring authenticity and quality.
Good vintage condition, with signs of use and light staining on the fabric.
