Information

This rare pair of ceiling lamps, designed by Hans Bergström and produced by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden, during the 1940s, embodies the essence of mid-century Scandinavian modern design. The lamps feature conical brass shades adorned with an intricate perforated pattern of crosses and dots. This design creates a captivating interplay of light and shadow when illuminated, emphasizing Bergström’s ability to craft lighting that serves both functional and aesthetic purposes.

The brass shades have developed a rich patina over time, adding character and depth to the lamps while enhancing their vintage appeal. Inside each shade is a textured glass diffuser, which softens and disperses the light, contributing to the warm, atmospheric glow typical of Bergström’s work. The brass canopy from which the lamps are suspended complements the overall design, providing a cohesive and refined look.

Measuring 19 cm in diameter (approximately 7.5 inches) and 28 cm in height (approximately 11 inches), with a total overall height of 90 cm (35.4 inches), these lamps maintain their original proportions and materials, showcasing the high level of craftsmanship that defines mid-century Scandinavian lighting. The pair stands as a fine example of Bergström’s mastery in blending form, function, and the creation of ambient lighting.
