Hans Bergström ceiling lamp
This rare ceiling lamp was designed by Hans Bergström and produced by Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden, during the 1940s. The fixture features a dual-conical pendant design suspended from a rectangular brass ceiling mount. The brass shades are intricately perforated with rows of geometric and cross-shaped cutouts, allowing light to diffuse outward and cast decorative shadows, creating an ambient glow when illuminated.
Hans Bergström, co-founder of Ateljé Lyktan, was known for blending functionalism with artistic craftsmanship in his lighting designs. His work often incorporated perforated metal and fabric elements to produce atmospheric and indirect lighting effects, hallmark characteristics of mid-century Scandinavian interiors.
The brass surface has developed a natural patina over time, enhancing the lamp’s vintage character while maintaining its structural integrity. Inside each shade, a pleated fabric diffuser softens the emitted light and complements the precise perforations.
The lamp measures 52 cm (20.5 inches) in width, 20 cm (7.9 inches) in depth, and 93 cm (36.6 inches) in height.
